Joan Iglehart Sarvis

April 2, 1933 - January 20, 2021

Prescott native, Joan Iglehart Sarvis, was born on April 2, 1933, at Alice Reay’s Nursing Home on Grove Ave, where Prescott College now stands. She was called to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2021. Her heart’s desire was to marry and have a family and that is just what she did following her graduation from Prescott High School in 1951, when she married the love of her life, Joe Sarvis. Joan modeled a life of selflessness and sacrifice. She put her family first. She was always alert for opportunities to help her neighbors, community, and church. She was a wonderful cook and made a fresh meal and dessert every day for her family. She loved to walk and play solitaire, bridge, and board games & watch Jeopardy with her husband. Joan sewed clothes for her children and always had an open seat at the table. She was gracious and hospitable to all, joyfully opening her home to guests. Joan made common things beautiful. She was a good listener and a good friend. She gave the precious gift of time to others. Joan had a “can do” attitude and her favorite childhood book was, “The Little Engine That Could.” As if that was not enough, she accepted a job at Lincoln Elementary School where she loyally served as the beloved lunch lady and attendance monitor. Joan retired after 30 years, never taking even one day of sick leave. She planted seeds of gentle love and kindness in all who passed through those doors. She may not have had a wall of worldly accolades, but she was definitely a trophy of God’s grace. Joan was a member of Sacred Heart Church for 70 years and spent many hours in the Adoration Chapel. She began her day in prayer, reading her Bible and Our Daily Bread. Joan exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman and her children rise up and call her blessed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Louise and Tom Iglehart, her grandson, Joey Sarvis, and her beloved husband of 66 years, Joe Sarvis. Together in life, in death and for all eternity. Joan is survived by her six children: Janet Page, Cindy (Kevin) Greer, Ben (Theresa) Sarvis, Tom (Norma) Sarvis, Ken (Dana) Sarvis and Julie Sarvis. She was blessed to have 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren with another due in May and her first great, great grandchild who is due in April. She is also survived by her sister, Miriam Estrada, sister-in-law, Joan Sarvis Bishopp, five nieces, and incalculable friends. Because of the pandemic, a private service celebrating her life and legacy was observed by the family with the assistance of Sacred Heart Church, Hampton Funeral Home, and the Prescott National Cemetery. There is no way to express enough gratitude for the loving and compassionate care our Mother received at Margaret T. Morris Center over the last three years.
